LESEDI EDUCARE

Lesedi Educare Centre is an initiative of P&B Lime Works. Situated in the Zwelitsha township, adjacent to our premises, the facility takes care of as many as 100 children in four classrooms. It has a kitchen, sufficient toilets an office and a first aid room.

P&B was responsible for the construction of the building, in 2012. P & B Lime Works saw the need in the community for a proper child care centre and with the Cape Agulhas Municipality selected Lesedi Educare as our local economical development project. The initiative forms part of our social and labour plan.

We are very proud to be associated with this community project.

BREDASDORP NUTRITION AND DEVELOPMENT CENTRE

The Cape Agulhas Municipality approached the Company at the end of 2016 regarding the Bredasdorp Nutrition and Development Centre (BNDC). The BNDC (Soup Kitchen) had an urgent need for a sustainable facility from where to operate their various feeding projects. When Bontebok became involved with the soup kitchen it was operated from the house of a volunteer which provided very basic equipment within a very small working space. The Department of Mineral Resources approved the project and P & B committed to spend R 1m on the project over a 5 year period from 2017 to 2021.

The Bredasdorp Nutrition and Development Centre is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) and was registered in 2009 when the soup kitchen was started. A local contractor was used who utilise local labour from the Bredasdorp town. Building of the soup kitchen started in July 2017. The building was painted in November 2017 and keys handed to the Manager, Mrs Doreen October, in December 2017. Between 60 and 70 persons are fed three days per week, when more funds are available it is done daily. The Company is very proud to be a part of this project and to make such a big difference in the Community.
